Meine Erziehung war streng katholisch. In der Schule mussten die Maedchen und die Jungen getrennt sitzen. Und wir hatten nur Polnisch zu sprechen, denn Schlesien war schon seit 1000 Jahren polnisch. In der Statistik waren wir “Autochthonen” - vergleichbar mit den Aborigines in Australien. Deutsch zu sprechen war verboten - es gab auch ueberhaupt keine Moeglichkeit Deutsch zu lernen - noch nicht einmal als Fremdsprache. Es gibt auch einen Schlesischen Dialekt. Wenn Du ihn gesprochen hast, warst Du gleich ein “Schwab” (ein Schimpfwort für Deutsche) oder ein “Hitlerowiec” und “Faschist” (= Nazi!).

My education was catholic. In the school girls and boys hat to sit separate. And we had to speak only Polish, because Silesia was since 1000 years Polish. In the statistics we were "autochthonous” - comparable with the aborigines in Australia. It was forbidden to speak German - there was also no possibility to learn German at all, even as a foreign language. There is a Silesian dialect, too. If you spoke it, you was a "schwab" (a cuss for a German) and a “hitlerowiec” and "fascist"(= nazi!).

1966 siedelte ich nach Deutschland um. Damals wurden die polnischen Schulabgangszeugnisse nicht anerkannt. Ich musste alles in Deutsch wiederholen. Und weil ich anfangs Probleme mit der deutschen Sprache hatte und mit schlesischem Akzent sprach, wurde ich nun  ein “Polacke” und “Kommunist”.

1966 I went to Germany. At that time the Polish school-leaving certificates wasn’t acknowledged here. I had to reapet all in German. And because I had at first problems with the German language and spoke German with a Silesian accent I was now a “Polacke” (a cuss for Polish people) and “communist”.

Dann begann die Soul- und Rockmusik, die Flower-Power und Make-Love-Not-War Zeit. Jeder träumte von einer besseren Welt anderswo. Also machte ich mich davon,  nachdem ich mein Abitur bestand.

Then began the Soul- and Rock-Music , the Flower-Power and Make-Love-Not-War time. Everyone dreamed of a better world somewhere else. So I made away after I finished my high school.

and finished as a jonkey and died alone on the streets as nobodies.

einige Amerikaner und Europaeer, die neue Erfahrungen sammeln und ein neues Leben beginnen wollten ...,

und als Rauschgiftsuechtige endeten und einsam und anonym auf den Strassen starben.

When I came back all that was in my head...

After a time my points of view changed. Step by step.

I began to study: Pegagogy, Geography and History - to understand what’s going on and why.

Now I’m a  teacher and educator. I help young handicapped persons to make a professional education and to get a job.

Looking back I think that there isn’t only the environment, which form a human. There is something more sleeping in us with an own right. If you know it you have the power to rule it. If not it’ll come one day and demand his right. It’ll come and demand it even there where it doesn’t have it.

Therefore it’s important to know the past of the own family. Your ancestors formed a part of you. You can't run away or change it. You have to accept it. On the other hand there is really nothing you have to feel ashamed.

Nach einiger Zeit aenderten sich meine Ansichten. Schritt für Schritt

Ich begann Paedagogik, Geographie und Geschichte zu studieren, um zu verstehen, was vor sich geht und warum.

Nun bin ich Lehrer und Erzieher. Ich helfe jungen behinderten Menschen eine Berufsausbildung zu machen und einen Job zu finden.

Rueckblickend glaube ich, dass es nicht nur die Umwelt ist, die einen Menschen formt. Es gibt noch etwas, das in uns schlummert und ein eigenes Recht hat. Wenn Du es kennst, besitzt Du die Macht es zu lenken. Falls nicht, wird es eines Tages kommen und sein Recht fordern. Es wird eines Tages kommen und sein Recht auch da fordern, wo es es gar nicht hat.

Darum ist es sehr wichtig, die Vergangenheit der eigenen Familie zu kennen. Ein Teil von Dir ist durch Deine Vorfahren gepraegt. Du kannst nicht wegrennen oder es veraendern. Du musst es akzeptieren. Andererseits gibt es wirklich nichts, wofuer Du Dich schaemen muesstest.
