My own story begins 1950 in Zabrze (Hindenburg). Quickly I term, that between that what the old people told me about the
history of Upper Silesia and these, what I learned at school, was a very big difference. Whom should I belief??? But there were also still the other kids and teenagers - and, to be candid, we did not care for such
things, because we had other problems as to find out if Silesia was since 1000 years polish or if Silesia was more influenced by the Germans. Our provenance did nor interested us, too - we wanted - such as weal all the
kids on this world - gamble and have fun... But one we really did not understood: It was not allowed to use in public the language of our parents (German or Silesian Dialect).
My family emigrated 1966 to the Federal Republic of Germany - into the "habitat", as my father was saying - I have been not enthusiastically of it, because I had to repeat all my school examinations in German:
Here was the story Silesia differently again -I studied history later - and did not know much more: As I discovered that I have far relatives in the USA, whose ancestors were coming from Komprachcice I
began to interest more for this village, because the ancestors of my father came also from there. (As I was young I spend there also some holidays) - and I discovered, that the name Komprachcice can
tell us much more about the History of Upper Silesia than all (up today used) history books. Let's begin a tour through the time: |
