Vandali, Vanduli, Vandili, Vandalen, Wandalen

Der Name „Wandalen“ umfasste ursprünglich eine groeßere Gruppe germanischer Völker, stand aber später für zwei Stämme, die Asdingen und Silingen.

Von den „Silingen“ wird wahrscheinlich der Name Silesia / Slonsk / Schlesien abgeleitet, der heute noch für dieses Gebiet gilt.

Rund ums Mittelmeer entstanden aber bereits die ersten Zivilisationen und entwickelten sich zur mächtigen Staatenverbänden – von denen wir dann auch die ersten schriftlichen Zeugnisse von den Völkern im heutigen Oberschlesien haben:

Für sie waren diese – ohne jeglicher „Ordnung und Stadtkultur“ lebenden Völker – schlicht „Barbaren“ –  „blutrünstig, extrem wild und grausam!“

Und wir haben diese Vorurteile dann schlicht übernommen:

(So scheint es also, dass die Wandalen also weiterhin überall in Europa und sonst wo noch ihr barbarisches Unwesen treiben - obwohl - und dies mag besonders erwähnenswert zu sein - dieses Volk nicht mehr, aber auch nicht weniger “grausam” war als die anderen Völker, mit dem Unterschied, dass es wohl den Römern größeren Schaden zufügte als andere: Die Geschichtsschreiber jener Zeit neigten jedenfalls dazu, gerade bei Niederlagen, die Sache noch ein bißchen schlimmer zu schildern, als sie war - wie sollten sie sonst ein schmähliches Versagen erklären?)

The name Vandals first pertains to a larger group old Germanic tribes but is later narrowed down to two tribes the Asdingians und Silingians.

Out of the Silingians probably the name Silesia / Slonsk / Schlesien develop, which even today pertains to that area.

Contemporarily the first civilisations developed around the Mediterranean Sea and developed to become states. They provided us with the first written documentation about the nations in Upper Silesia.

For them those nations--- living without any order and city-culture - simply were barbarians, "bloody, wild and cruel”

(It thus appears, as if the Vandals still continue to display their barbarian misdemeanours all over Europe, although this nation- and this may be specifically stresses- was neither less nor more cruel than the other nations, with the exception may be that they caused more damage to the Romans, than others. Historians of that age, however, tended, to exaggerate slightly on the defeats, how else could they explain the failure.)
